Do You Need Physiotherapy?

Do You Need Physiotherapy?

If you’re wondering whether you need to see a physiotherapist, then this post is for you. Find out more about why and when you need physiotherapy.

There are many reasons why seeing a physiotherapist might be the solution to your pain or injury concerns.

Physiotherapists in Australia are highly-trained health care professionals. Physios work closely with doctors and surgeons in order to provide you with the most effective solution to your problem. At First Choice Health, we pride ourselves on having a high-level of study, with our practitioners holding a variety of postgraduate degrees and other qualifications.

If you’re looking for assessment of your injury, seeing one of our expert physios should be your first choice. No referral is required to see a physiotherapist. And, if you have private health insurance, the cost of your consultation may be covered either in full or in part.

At your initial assessment, you can expect:

  • Your physio to take a history of your condition
  • A physical examination
  • ‘Hands-on’ treatment from your physiotherapist
  • A plan for your recovery

Our experience in managing sports injuries on the field gives us the expertise to ensure you have the best care and fastest recovery. Whether it’s for an acute ankle sprain from basketball, or a shoulder dislocation from football, you will be in good hands.

For a wide range of conditions, ranging from low back pain, neck pain, and knee pain, to workplace injuries, physios are well versed in not just the accurate clinical diagnosis, but also targeted therapeutic interventions (mobilisation, manipulation, massage) and exercise therapy.

Your physiotherapist is able to refer you for a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray, CT, ultrasound and MRI, as well as liaising with you own general practitioner to discuss other treatment such as analgesics and anti-inflammatories.

Sometimes the need arises for a referral onwards to an orthopaedic surgeon for further evaluation of your injury. Our clinic has longstanding relationships with some of the best orthopaedic surgeons in Victoria, and can assist you in finding the right specialist for your needs.

Physiotherapists are the health professionals most trusted by GPs. Our training and experience is backed by research and sport science, which will assist your recovery.

So why should you book in with one of our expert physiotherapists at First Choice Health? Whether it’s for back pain, a niggling knee injury, or persistent headache, we’ll help you recover sooner and work with you to prevent recurrence.

Get in touch with us today for more information, or book an initial consultation online now.
