Dry needling is a treatment technique which involves the insertion of fine needles into tight areas of muscles known as trigger points with the goal of reducing both acute and chronic muscle pain and dysfunction as well as neurological and referred pain. Once inserted, the needle may often elicit or reproduce local or referred pain and, when inserted into the tight (trigger points) may even produce a cramping or twitching sensation in the muscle which often “deactivates” or desensitises the trigger point thereby stimulating a healing response of the muscle being treated.
Dry needling is an effective form of treatment for many musculoskeletal conditions and can be carried out First Choice Health as part of your physiotherapy treatment.
